Every coffee we carry is specialty-grade, meaning it was graded at least 80 points or higher on the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s 100-point scale. These scores reflect everything that matters in great specialty coffee: growing altitude, season, soil, and the farmers’ care in harvesting and preparing the beans.
Because quality starts at origin, we take great care when sourcing our coffee. We work closely with trusted importers to find coffees that stand out for their quality and character. We keep a variety of origins and tasting notes available, which include a mix of perennial favorites and new, unusual and seasonal flavors.
The coffee “bean” is actually the seed of a fruit, a coffee cherry. Dense, green, and hard as a rock, they’re not something you’d normally associate with your aromatic cup of coffee. The transformation happens during roasting, where heat unlocks flavor, aroma, and character.
Roasting determines the flavor of the finished coffee. It’s a process in which we develop our personalized Lucky Goat flavor profiles; recipes that are crafted to perfection over time by our experienced staff who take pride and pleasure in what they do.
This is where potential turns into personality. Temperature, timing, and aroma all play a role. Brighter notes come forward, deeper flavors develop, and everything finds its balance. The goal is simple: coffee that tastes as great as it smells.
The final step — and just as important as every one before it — is brewing. Every step in the creation of a cup of coffee will affect the way it tastes, from bean selection and roasting, to grind size and water temperature.
