What Makes Panama Gesha So Special?
If you aren't familiar with a Gesha, it is an incredibly rare and expensive varietal of coffee that is highly sought after by roasters, baristas, and specialty coffee nerds alike. The variety is thought to originally come from Ethiopia, like other varieties, but ended up in Panama where it became popularized. Its beans often win an exceptional number of awards and are incredibly expensive due to rarity, quality, and demand. Its delicate flavor profile is often clean, refreshing, fruity, and floral, and generally lends once-in-a-lifetime coffee experiences. Think of it as the pinnacle of specialty coffee—perfect for anyone who appreciates the finer things in life!
Sourced from the Historic Lérida Estate & Meticulously Crafted by Our Roasting Team
This coffee, from the Lérida Estate, is no different. Finca Lérida is a historic farm for Panamanian coffee production located in the Boquete Region. Tucked into the mountains of the western side of Panama, this region is part of the larger district of Chiriquí Province, close to the border with Costa Rica. This farm made the first coffee export in Panama’s history and continues to push the envelope on coffee quality, specifically in the creation of award-winning Geshas.
The Lérida Estate grows coffees between 1600 and 2050 masl and consists of hectares dedicated to preserving national forestland; this washed process coffee has a general flavor profile that is fruity, sweet, silky, and light-bodied. The green coffee has been meticulously stored in vacuum-sealed packaging to control moisture and kept in climate-controlled rooms in our roasting facility. Our roasters spent weeks dialing in the profile of this coffee and planning how to roast it so that we could really highlight the beauty of this coffee. Once we roasted it, we tasted notes like Fruit loops, white tea, and orange jam, but this coffee evolves the longer it sits after its roast.

When we brought this coffee in, we knew we wanted to submit it for an award once we roasted it. In September, we submitted our coffee to be considered in the Elite Filter Coffee category of the Golden Bean Awards, and shortly after, we were awarded a bronze medal. We are so honored to have selected this coffee, been able to roast it and bring it to our Tallahassee coffee community. We are so excited to bring you special, unique coffees, and we hope you love it as much as we do.
